About Emily McAuliffe
My name is Emily McAuliffe and I’m an Australian copywriter, features writer and hotel reviewer with a global office (currently based in Melbourne, Australia).
I regularly write for Lonely Planet and Time Out, and have reviewed more than 70 hotels for The Telegraph UK and various other publications (I know a good bed when I see one). I've also written for high-circulating publications such as the Qantas, Virgin, Aer Lingus, Singapore Airlines, Luxair, Wizz Air, Jetstar and Tigerair inflight magazines, The Australian (Australia’s national newspaper), BBC News, The CEO Magazine, International Traveller, Mindfood, Australian Traveller, Good Food Australia, Food and Travel UK, Selector, Hostelworld and the Tourism & Events Queensland website. You can view my portfolio here. I also have a travel blog called The Portugal Wire.
I've based myself in both Australia and Europe, and given we live in the digital age, my location doesn’t impact my ability to deliver writing services to clients in Australia, the UK, Europe, the USA and everywhere in between. As a professional travel writer I’m adept at managing international deadlines.
Since I'm not limited to a particular locale I can focus on providing tailored copywriting services that meet the unique demands of the hospitality, travel, events and tourism industries all around the world. See my FAQ page for a rundown on how I work.
In addition to running a freelance travel writing business, I've worked in senior corporate communications positions, so I understand the role of both agent and client (i.e. I know what it's like being on your side of the fence), and understand how different types of copy work together to drive sales and create a strong and trustworthy brand.
My qualifications include a Master of Public Health with Distinction (UON), a Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Arts (UQ), Advanced Copyediting (RMIT), a Cert IV in Business Social Media and a Cert III in Videography. I'm also a graduate of the Australian Writers' Centre and a member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
Not all of that may seem relevant to your business, but it means I've got broad perspective, skills and experience, and am accustomed to delivering work of exceptional quality. It also shows I’m a skilled researcher, so can thoroughly research your company and target market to create sales-worthy copy that fits your big picture marketing strategy.
And last but not least, I love to travel. I find great joy in discovering new places, activities, tastes, sights and sounds, and that’s why I want to help connect your business to travellers like me who are itching to find out about the experiences you offer.
Now you know a bit about me, browse my list of services to find out how I can assist your company.
